PLACES TO VISIT

The large house of the Rural Club “El Bosque: ( 5 minutes by car from Silvania): It is a colonial House built in 1827, social headquarters of the Rural Club. It was part of the large farm “El Chocho”. That house was reconstructed in the 1906, remodelled in 1975. Its decoration is of great stile and surrounded by beautiful trees like chicalaes, hobos, rubber. Etc. It is posible to enter paying a fixed rate per day.

The Hill of “Peñas Blancas”, settlement San José : sacred hill for the aboriginal Sutagaos, around traces have been found.

*Camino Real of Subia: To arrive it’s possible to take from the main road in Subia, passing by the “Mirador” farm: along the path there is a fence in stone that exists since the natives period, walking we arrives at the Great Slab stone of Subia.

*Ancient rocky art of Subia

Location: Settlement of Subia Pedregal, Farm “El Mirador”, private property, 5 minutes in car and 25 minutes on foot from main street.

Characteristic: Behind the house, inside a rocky shelter the are native’s hand and a foot engraved on the rock, in another stone set against the house you can observe spirals, triangles, frogs, human figures, also two circles united by a line. It is possible to observe a basin carved in stone, that could be a stone of sacrifices.

Kenga Botanical garden (in the Setlement “La Victoria” Exotic gardens, orchids, bromelias, heliconias, palm trees etc. There is a House- museum which inside has sculptures., paintings, antiquities, art in iron. It is possible to do ecological walks.

Lodging Service in a colonial beautiful house.

By reservation:
Restaurant , conference room, each proposal is offered individually or as a tourist package

Tourist guidance, yoga classes, reservation with at least 10 people

NOTE: reservation with at least 50% one week in advance.

LARGE HOUSE CAPACITY

LODGING: Maximum 44 people in staterooms and tents, distributed as: 30 in the large house, 6 in the cottage, 8 in tent.

RESTAURANT: capacity for 100 people in two shifts, for breakfast, lunch, supper and breaks.

CONFERENCE ROOM: capacity of 50 people seated during seminars, work breakfasts, training, short courses, etc.

LOUNGE FOR SOCIAL EVENTS: Marriages, birthdays, anniversaries, religious celebrations. Capacity for 100 people, with spaces in the main lounge, patio, lobby and gardens.

PARKING: In the large house capacity for 5 cars., other 5 spaces in parking that can be rented near by.

HISTORY

TURISTIC LARGE HOUSE POSADA “LAS BROMELIAS”

HISTORY

It was built at the beginning of the 20th century

Until 1934 belonged to Manuel Antonio Galindo Rada, who manged the store of the administrative office of the estate “ El Chocho”, controlling the commercial movement through a customs.

Mr. Galindo belonged to a family from the 18th Century of the municipality of “Guaduas”, he was descendant of the lieutenant Mariano of the Raga, important person of the independence. Mr. Manuel helped Silvania’s founder Ismael. Silva and integrate the first Counsel of the Municipality in l949.

In l979 Hector Galindo who did his medicine studies in Monphelier (France), inherits the large house, where established his consult office, helping always needed people until l990 when he dyed.

In l997 the large house was bought by a family from Italy, who restored it, used as their house and offered part of the house for tourists services during 7 years. In this house was born the Rural Association of “ Sumapaz “

Today it is the Tourist rural house “LAS BROMELIAS”, name given in homage to the great variety of ornamental plants of this species that identify the region, this is a place of harmony and interaction with the nature.

LOCATION: Silvania- Cundinamarca. It takes One hour From the city of Bogotà by the “Panamericana” High Way going to the south of Colombia.
